Some Observations

There was recently a lot of talk and optimism about an "official" report saying the crime rate in our area was down.  We heard about it on the radio and TV and read about it in the paper.  This was announced like it was a cause for great rejoicing.  Almost in the very next breath they reported about three people killed in three different shootings.  What gives???  Who is compiling these "Official" statistics?   Seems like there's hardly a day goes by that someone isn't shot or stabbed.  And mostly these crimes are in the same general areas.

While I was at the "Y" today I had a conversation with two of my acquaintances from there.  We never see each other anywhere else, but we check on each other there.  The crime rate was a topic of discussion while we were on the machines.  We all agreed that times have changed and areas where we used to feel comfortable we no longer do.  One lady commented on the fact that one of the recently killed had reportedly been shot twice before this last incident.  Come, on!  Wouldn't you think he would have figured out he needed to change his habits and lifestyle???

And mobile meth labs were in the news again.  It's bad enough the druggies are cooking this stuff up and risking blowing up their neighbors.  Traffic in our area has enough problems.  We don't need additional risks.  I say lock 'em up!

In lighter news - - - - we have a nesting bird in our tree in the front yard.  Evidently the Mama and Daddy birds wants to waterproof their home.  They have a piece of plastic hanging down from their nest.  I figure they put in a liner.  :)  Golfer and I won't try to tidy up until they have hatched their family and moved on.

Stay safe!
