Rough Start to Vacation

Finally, here is a sunrise picture!

We got off to rough start on this trip.  I ended up in the hospital overnight  Saturday evening after passing out at dinner.  Les had to call an ambulance and the ER people said they needed to keep me.  After many tests, labs, CT scan, MRIs, carotid scans, glucose checks, etc. the doctor determined that I had not had a stroke, my brain was fine, my carotids were clear, sugar levels were good, and the many EKGs were good.  He settled on a diagnosis of major Vasovagal Syncope and some dehydration.  I am going to follow up with our own doctor when we get home.

That all wore me out and I finally got to leave the hospital late Sunday afternoon.  Les and our friends have all been taking good care of me and I am feeling better.  And still being careful with my surgery recovery, too.  Drinking lots and lots of fluids and taking it easy.

The golf tournament started this morning and Les and the guys are out on the course.  Good luck to all!

It is extremely hot here.  I think the forecast for today is 101.  I am not spending a lot of time sitting out.  😎

But life remains great!  Stay safe and God Bless America!

Hydrangeas!

Even though the calendar does not say so, I think we can safely say Summer is here in our area.  It was a very humid 94 yesterday and the same is expected today.

The sprinklers have been running on schedule and the yard is green, some things are blooming.  The latest are our hydrangeas.  When they were planted a few years ago, we had three bushes at the side of the deck; one was pink, one was blue, one was lavender.  Now they are all this pretty color!

Les and I are doing okay and taking care of ourselves.  And we are getting ready for our annual trip for the Military Retiree's Golf Tournament in Myrtle Beach.  I am really looking forward to spending some time just watching the ocean.  I know some of you think that would be boring, but I love it!  Plus we get to spend time with some very good friends!

I don't know how many of  you have watched Game of Thrones, but we enjoyed last night's finale.  I have read all the books and we watched the show from the beginning.  I am sorry Dany turned into the Mad Queen, but I will still wear my sweatshirt.  😊  Considering her family history and all the trauma in her life it really shouldn't have surprised anyone.

So, life remains great!  Stay safe and God Bless America!

Feels Like Summer!

It is hot, sunny, and humid here.  Headed into the 90's today.  I was outside to water the porch pansies and it was soooo muggy.

Les and I are doing okay, just having a quiet day.  I've been doing a few easy "odds and ends".

And even though it is hot and muggy outside, Cecil is enjoying catching some rays of sunshine inside.

Hey, All!

I hope everyone is happy and doing well.  Les and I have been recuperating.

I am slowly getting a little more energy.  I had a recheck appointment this past week and my sutures were taken out.  That was nice, they were starting to bother me.  My doctor says I am doing well, and I should keep doing it.  I go back in a month.  Supposed to stick to gentle movements and some gentle stretches.  The soreness is still there in my hip area and hopefully that bursa is growing back well.

Les' poison ivy/oak that he brought back from the golf trip is getting better slowly.  The culture the doctor did was okay but they still want to see him again this coming week.  And he has been to our GP doctor twice for "the crud" that he brought back, too.  Doc says it's allergies and Les has been miserable and coughing a lot.

So, basically, we are both just taking as easy as we can and taking care of ourselves.  We are getting the basics done around here.

The new sod is doing okay; better in some spots than others.  The yard is nice and green.

Kirk had to go in for some recall notice work; something about the tail lights.  Les and I made it to the Commissary; that was the first I had been in quite a while.

I am writing this post on my new Chromebook.  I had had my Surface tablet in for some service and it just isn't working right.  Les said he noticed I hadn't been using it much and he bought this new tablet for me.  I really like it.  Still figuring out how to do things on it, but I am getting there.

That's about it for now.  Life is still great!  Stay safe and God Bless America!

Just One More Picture

Our babies and me, early 1970's, in Germany.  Life was great then, too!

Hope You're Having a Good Day!

We are having a quiet, easy day here.  It's been raining off and on all day.  Les still isn't feeling great, and I certainly am not ready to go out in crowds anyway.  Jacquie is getting over a virus and she is keeping it at her house.

So I have opened my cards and gifts and we've just been taking it easy.  Les and the furry boys got me a lovely monogrammed Vera Bradley purse.  I have already switched things and it's ready to go.  Pam sent me a book I want to read.  And Jacquie sent me a cookie with a very appropriate message on it.  😊

Happy Mother's Day

I hope everyone has a very happy, peaceful, blessed Mother's Day tomorrow.  And especially the two wonderful mothers that Les and I created.  Love you, girls!

I Am Getting Back

I have been on the computer very little the past week.  But very slowly, I am getting better.  I will be honest, this surgery - although it was one of my shorter ones - has just done a number on me.  Dr. Aldridge had explained everything about the bursectomy before the surgery and I knew what to expect.  I just did not expect to be so wiped out, tired, and exhausted.  Hate to admit it, but age probably has a lot to do with that.  Remember, I truly believe age is just a number.  But this has not been fun.  And you all can accept, too, that we are all getting older.

So add to all that the fact that something I was given during the surgery and after has messed up my digestive system due to my lack of a gallbladder, I am worn out.  But, for some good news, right after the surgery the severe pain in my knee and down my leg from the nerve compression caused by the bursitis was better.  There are still some aches now and then but it is definitely better.  I do have soreness and achiness in my hip/surgery area.  This is supposed to last at least six weeks.  And there is some itchy rash from the surgical scrub and adhesive.  That is getting better slowly.

So, life goes on.  Jacquie stayed with me a couple nights and took good care of me.  Les was out of town on a long planned golf trip and was feeling guilty about being away.  He shouldn't have felt guilty, I told him I wanted him to go right when surgery was first discussed.  But my options were either do it then, or wait a few more weeks.  So please don't give him a hard time about going.

He is home now and all is well.  He spent most of yesterday working in the yard.  The sod was finally delivered yesterday morning.  So far, so good.  I'll keep you posted on how the new sod does, but it looks good right now.

As I always say, life is great!  Stay safe and God Bless America!

Thanks again, Larry and Violet!
