I Would Like to Read Some Nice News

There seems to have been an abundance of disturbing, stressful news lately.

Great Britain's vote is messing with the world's financial systems and the stock market is stressing. World markets are stressing.  Good luck to Great Britain!

There seem to be terrorists lurking about everywhere and killing innocent people.  I strongly support securing our borders and only letting in people who are coming here legally, are willing to work and support themselves and their families, and are willing to adapt to our American way of life, including speaking English.  For the misguided fools who are Americans supporting ISIS, I know the security people know about them, so they should do something.  Either lock them up or send them over there to the desert.  Probably some of these home-grown terrorists think it's going to be like playing a video game.  Wake up!  It isn't!  You're killing people.  You can not re-boot and bring them back.

Then there was a long article in the paper explaining about what Obama has done to the health care system, specifically Medicare. This has been going on for several years.  Boo on Obama!  We should give him a pill, since he thinks a pill can fix all senior citizens' health issues and they should just get used to it.

Let's not forget the political fiasco that is on-going.  I won't usually discuss politics, but I have to ask how did our country get into this mess?  My first response is to blame Obama, but I think there is enough blame to spread around.  The liberal left politically correct people who are afraid they might offend someone have had a lot to do with the condition our country is in.  And yes, I am proud to be a very conservative Republican!  I have always worked hard and been a responsible citizen.

And then on a more personal note, I read about one of our favorite restaurants, Joe & Mimma's, closing for good yesterday.  That's just sad.  We are going to miss their salads and their subs.

I'm going to go sit somewhere quiet now and think some good thoughts.  Those thoughts include Golfer, and the rest of our family, and our furry boys.  So here are some happy pictures!

You can tell by the big glasses, big hair, and our party faces that this was quite a while ago.  I told you I had been looking at old pictures!  :)

Feeling Nostalgic

All is well here.  I think everything is under control.  :)

So far with the jury duty, they have not needed me.  I call in again tomorrow evening to see if that has changed.  I am perfectly fine with not having to go, but I am willing if needed.

I am not sure what got me looking at old pictures, but I guess I was feeling nostalgic.  We'll have our girls together for a short time.  Bikini had a business conference in D.C. and she is coming this evening to spend a couple days.  I'm sure the main reason she's coming now is to see Nurse J and the girls, especially our new baby, Little Miss E.  Whatever the reason, we will love having her with us.  Also, today is the last day of high school for BeyB.  She is graduating with honors and we are very proud of her.  She has chosen not to walk, (that is a choice now) and we are getting together for dinner and celebration on Friday.  And Bikini has not seen Cutie Girl in a while, so there's hugs coming there, too!

Anyway, back to the pictures.  I have picked out two to post.  I am calling them "Young 4" and "Older 4".  You will be able to tell which is which.  :)  "Young 4" was taken in Germany.   "Older 4" was taken a few years ago in Myrtle Beach.  I love them all!

It Was a Productive Week

Everything was checked off my to-do list!

Golfer and I spent Thursday afternoon working in the yard.  It got dry enough for him to mow all but a small area.  So we got the trimming, pruning, weeding, edging, and all the other things done.  And all the mess cleaned up after the work!  Felt good to get that done.

There were a  lot of "bits" to clean up even after the tree guys did their clean-up when they removed the downed tree.  If you look closely you can see the "logs" they left for us.  Sometime soon IT Guy will be taking those to their house to chop up for firewood.  :)

The "new" plantings from the last project are starting to bloom now.  Those Hydrangeas are white;  don't know what color the rhododendrons are going to be.

These are the older hydrangeas that are blooming now.  They are all a pretty lavender.

After all the yard work and other chores, we sat down to watch a movie that evening.  Here is Angus watching Harry Potter; he especially liked the flying car.  Golfer and I are watching all the movies again from the first one.  Unfortunately, Angus saw more of the movie than Golfer and I did!  (we fell asleep)

Stay safe!

Another Busy Day

I've been checking things off my "list".  This morning I did all the usual things, also a couple loads of laundry.  Then did errands.  I got a small amount of cedar mulch for my porch pots - the nice man would not let me pay!  I got the paint for the shed repairs.  Then got to the car wash to get Kirk all cleaned up.  Then I went along with Golfer to a doctor's appointment.  Then we had a quick lunch and then I went along to help Nurse J with Little Miss E's appointment.  She is doing well and has gained about a pound.  The jaundice has cleared up except for the little bit in her eyes.  The doctor said that is always the last to disappear.

The mulch got put in the pots, then the porch, walk and driveway were cleaned off again.  I think I've finally gotten almost all of the wood chips cleaned up out there.  I pulled a few weeds, too.

So, now I am ready to just get in the shower and then rest in front of the TV.  Stay safe!

Busy Day!

It has been really busy here today.  I've done several projects on my to-do list.  Most of the busy-ness has been outside though.  The tree guys came this morning and made quick work of cutting up the fallen tree and removing all of it except for a few logs that Golfer and IT Guy are going to cut and split when the wood has dried out enough. (just need some for fireplace and fire pit)  The tree guys also trimmed up the tree I've worried about, so it looks nice and healthy now.  They also raked and cleaned up everything.

Our yard is still too wet for any mowing or clean-up work.  Although I have done a little in the front for "curb appeal".  I made a quick trip to Lowe's and got some gorgeous red geraniums and potted them for the porch.  Also pulled a couple weeds out in the front mulched area and cleaned the porch and walk again.

About an hour after the tree work was done our handyman sent someone to look at the shed.  He looked, got supplies and was done quickly.  Still need to paint a little of the repaired area, but we don't seem to have any of the right color of paint on hand.  What we thought was right, does not match.  Personally, I think this is another case of paint changing color over the years as we store leftovers.  This has happened in the past and the paint experts say, "it happens".  I will get some tomorrow morning.

Golfer went to the "Y" to use the hot tub for his leg.  It is feeling a little better, I think.  He isn't limping as much.  He also worked on his golf equipment a bit.

Dinner is in the oven. I am tired and in need of a long shower.  Stay safe!

Back From Vacation!

We are safely home, tired and happy.  It was a nice week, even if it did rain off and on almost every day.  Bikini and I got some beach time, and the kids and Brief played in the water whether it was cloudy or not.  But the one day it was really sunny and hot it was almost too hot and humid to be out there!

We are in catching up mode now.  I just returned from getting groceries and putting everything away.  Golfer is sorting through the pile of mail that was just delivered.  I had a to-do list of everything I need to get done this week.  My Federal jury duty officially starts on Friday and I have no idea what the next couple weeks will bring.  However...... that tentative list sort of fizzled out when I saw this first thing this morning:

My planned "tidy up the yard" chore has gotten much bigger!  The lovely tree came down in last evening's storm. The tree guy has already been here this morning to look at it.  He will be back, probably tomorrow, to take care of it.  He is also going to trim some dead bits from a tree I've been worrying about.  It does finally have leaves now and is okay, except for a few branches. When the tree work is done Golfer will call our Handyman guy, Steve, to come and fix the damage to the shed.  Can't tell about the fence yet because there is too much tree in the way.

So I will think calming thoughts about the beach.  I love watching the ocean and listening to the waves.  Here is a picture of sunrise:

I like looking at the marsh, too.  Here is a picture of the evening high tide in the marsh.  We discovered that the roads leading to the beach through the marsh often flood at these times!

Got to get busy here.  Stay safe!
