Just Saying Hi!

We're keeping up with all the usual stuff around here.  I got a bunch of errands done over a couple days.  And the Geek Squad guys, Dillon and Victor, were here and did the set up for our new TV!  Same guys that have been here a couple times before.  They do great work!  And well worth the cost!  This picture does not come close to showing what a good clear picture we have.  It does show that it did fit in the space without moving anything!

You will notice that we were watching Star Trek, Next Generation.  Something about having 4D/HD ----- there are some actors with some skin issues.  Also guys who need to shave better and women who need to wear hose!  😊

I went over and watered Jacquie and Chris' garden this morning before it got any hotter.  Did not pick anything.  The melons are not ready to fall off the vines yet as Chris said.  There are some new peppers growing.  And their tomatoes are just starting to get some color.  So far, so good.  I went inside and checked on their kitties and they both met me and followed me around. Once I gave them some fresh water and food and cleaned their litter box they were settled.  The neighbor lady has been taking care of them, but when I'm there for the garden, I go in and check on them, too.  Jacquie says they are all fine and the recent tornado was not near them but they did have some really dark clouds then.

Have not heard anything from Pam in a while, so I am assuming they are all okay.

The heat is creeping back up along with the humidity.  The heat index right now is 99.  Getting hotter over the next few days.

Waiting

At the moment we are waiting for the Geek Squad guys to arrive to do the complete set-up for our new TV and equipment.  Les is on the laptop and I have been doing desk "stuff" and working on the computer.

It has been hot and muggy.  Even though we have had a couple downpours of heavy rain, the ground soaks it up.  Since we are tending to Jacquie's and Chris' garden for them right now, I went over and watered yesterday.  So far, so good.  😊

The day lilies are in full bloom, the geraniums in the porch pots are doing well, everything is green.  And the annoying moles are active.

A couple posts ago I mentioned grooming our furry boys.  I did get them all done that day.  Combed out a huge amount of hair!

We had a nice anniversary.  I've mentioned the new TV, we also got each other some small gifts and went to Salsa's for dinner.  Jacquie sent us a "Cookie Text".   Very pretty and tastes really good, too.  I took a picture before we cut into it!

Happy Anniversary, Honey!

Fifty-one years and counting!  You are the love of my life and my best friend.  Love you! XOXO

Hey!

It's another hot and muggy day here.  The heat index is already 98, there is a heat advisory.  I have no outside plans.

We have been up and out early.  Les had an early appointment and afterward we went to breakfast.  He has gone to the "Y" and I am taking care of a few things around here.

The furry boys all need nail clipping and combing and brushing.  Even though they don't go outside, I guess they know it's HOT out there and there has been more shedding lately.  Got one done, the other two haven't been seen.  I imagine they are under a bed.  😊

We bought a new TV and had the initial on site evaluation by The Geek Squad yesterday.  Was an interesting discussion and a few changes were made.  Some things we had purchased were not going to be needed, so I returned those to the store.  The guys will come back next Tuesday to do the set-up and installation and talk to us some more.  I am pretty sure we will need to take some notes for this Smart TV.

The yard is green and things are looking pretty good except for the mole tunnels.  The little creatures have been active again; Les has been working on that.  He's adjusted the sprinkler system timing for the heat, and also so it won't turn on on his usual  grass mowing day.

The day lilies are blooming now and are very pretty.

Life Is Good!

All is well here.  We had rain off and on yesterday and today started out sunny.  It is now getting a little cloudy; only in mid-70's.

I was out doing errands and getting groceries and voting this morning.  I just finished getting everything in and put away.

The yard is looking good.  New flowers are doing well so far.

Got the Flowers!

We went to Lowe's to get a few things and came home with flowers for the porch and a small pot for the back.  They are all cleaned up, watered, fertilized and in place now and I am happy.

There are buds on them and we'll have more blooms soon.

After multiple tries in years past, I have learned that I can not properly plant flowers in the ground in this area because of all the tree roots, hence a small pot for color!  And yes, I do see that I need to adjust the leveling on that and get it straight!  I must have looked at it crooked or something when I set it down.  Soon in this mulched area the day lilies will be blooming, too.

It is hot and humid and I was dripping and muddy from washing out the clay pots to get them ready to put away, so I am all showered and shampooed and going to go read now.

Happy Birthday, Jacquie!

Love you!  XOXO

Hey!

Just checking in...

I posted a picture of the hydrangeas before we left for the beach.  They are now blooming with more color and very pretty!  The ones by the deck are a lovely pink.  The ones in the back corner of the yard are white and also pretty.

I am slowly getting the yard clean-up done that I want to do.  Yesterday I worked on the large mulched area in backyard, the area around the deck and the small mulched area by the side gate.  Pruning, weeding, trimming, raking the mulch over to freshen it.  Looking better!  Still need to work on the far back parts, but that isn't happening today in the heat and 81% humidity.  😊  We are going to Lowe's tomorrow to look at flowers for the front porch pots.

Simple Pleasures!

The garage door will close with just a touch of a button!!!!  Yay!!!

So good news on that issue, sad news that our red maple is terminal and going to be replaced, and something to think about with the hot bonus room upstairs.  All in all a lot was accomplished yesterday.

And today - another simple pleasure!  I made it to Dean & Don's Farm Market.  I bought a watermelon from Florida, peaches from South Carolina, a cantaloupe from Georgia, vine ripened tomatoes, and fresh corn! Here is just some of the bounty!

This and That

Les and I are safely home and are in "catch up" mode.  The trip home was good, best time we've ever made - five hours and twenty-five minutes!  And we stopped for breakfast, gas, and a couple potty breaks!

So here we are, things are all unpacked and put away, laundry is done, cleaning is done, mail has been sorted, errands run, and groceries gotten.  The yard work will eventually get done - there has been a lot of rain here.

There are a few things that needed attention and I have been making phone calls and setting up appointments.  Today we have had our arborist, Joel, come to look at our red maple in the front yard.  Sadly, it is terminal due to blight that is attacking area red maples.  So, in the Fall it will be taken out and something "hardy" will be planted.  It makes me sad, I love that red maple.

Then we had our HVAC guy, Venny, come to see if anything can be done about our extremely hot room over the garage.  The whole system is not very old and is in great shape and working properly.  He says a lot of houses like ours have the same issues.  It's a combination of long run for the duct work and design issues. He got into the attic and checked to make sure all the dampers were open and nothing blocked.  He comes twice a year for routine checks and I knew things were in good shape.  Now we decide if we want to buy and have installed a mini split heat pump that would hang on the wall up there.  Or we can just tell the kids they have to tough it out.  😊  We are thinking about it.

Then later today we are expecting the guys from the garage door repair company to come.  I am fed up with our opener and done with having to get out of the car and manually close the door when I leave.  I know, tough life.  But the darn thing has been temperamental for a while and we have to stand there and hold the button down until the door is all the way closed.  And the problem is with the synced systems in the cars, the interior buttons and the exterior.  Just fix it!

Thursday the man comes to clean out the dryer vents and ductwork.

Friday Angus has his annual check-up and shots. Finnigan goes next week.  I can only do one at a time now.  I need to pick my battles and they are a lot of cat to wrestle around.

Besides all the other odds and ends that I've been doing, I  helped Mr. Gnome in his garden.  He has a new Koi pond and needed some assistance getting it set up.  Good times ahead for the summer in there!

P.S.

Here's the view from the other side of the condo.

When there is rain or when it is high tide, the marsh water level goes up.  If the rain and high tide  happen at the same time, it really goes up!

Last Day

The last couple days have been "interesting".  The Grouper at Bimini's did not happen for us. That was #1 on my list, but we will try again next year.   We spent dinner time at an Urgent Care getting a cut on Les' head treated, cauterized, and taped.  He had cut it in the morning and it just would not stop bleeding.  Fortunately he says it doesn't hurt.  He is doing well now. Disappointed about the Grouper, but his health is more important.

There has been some rain but it has been spotty, scattered and mostly short.  Plenty of sun time!

The kids have enjoyed the ocean and riding on the boogie board in the waves, and they love the pool.  Pam and Garrett have taken them out to do other fun things, too.  They all headed home early this morning.

Les is out for the last day of the tournament.  He has had some frustrations, but based on dinner conversation, so has everyone else.

Since I haven't posted in a couple days, here are some more of my sunrise pictures.

All sunrise pictures are taken from our balcony.  It's a great view.

It is time now for me to get downstairs before it gets too hot to sit out in the sun.  Stay safe and God Bless America!  Life is good!
