New Mulch!

Hey, all!

I just wanted to post a couple pictures of our new mulch.  We got shredded cedar this time and it's very nice.  Smells great, too!  Here's a front view and a back yard view.

The pansies in the front are doing well.  They usually last until early June.  Then I'll switch to geraniums.

As you can see in the back, our azaleas are in various stages of bloom.  Some are just starting and some are done.

And here's a shot of the red tree in the front yard.

Stay safe!

Patio Picture

Just thought I'd post a picture of the patio.  The dark area around it is compost and grass seed from where the grass was disturbed.  It's already starting to fill in a little.

Also posting a picture of the hydrangeas at the side of the deck.  I just checked on them and they are doing well.

Stay safe, everyone!

Updates... Not Going as Planned

Hey, all,

Things have been busy around here.  Our old patio was dug up and the new paving stone one was put in. It's lovely and is all finished except for putting in some additional sand for the "grout".  The lady in charge says they let it settle for a few days before they do that.  The hydrangeas are still alive and look like they are thriving.

Golfer and I did some shopping and bought a new grill.  It was delivered yesterday and looks really nice.  Our old one was on its last leg and did not cook evenly.  We also bought some large pots and potting soil and sometime soon I'll get something planted in those for the deck.

FYI --- did you all know that fire pits were a "seasonal" item??  And that season would be Fall/Winter according to the sales person I spoke with.    However, one has been ordered from the Home Depot online store and should be here soon.  Then we plan to roast hot dogs and marshmallows!

And that brings us up to this week.  Golfer left at "0-dark-thirty" Sunday morning on a golf trip with one of the Langley groups.  He's called everyday and he's having a good time.  And I am glad.  I had a large project planned for while he was away and was going to go through a large stack of boxes that have been stored upstairs.  Lots of sorting and cleaning out needs to be done there.  I'm a productive and organized person.  Guess how much I've gotten done.   ZERO!  When we got up Sunday morning I had a headache.  I just figured it was due to the extremely early hour.  I tried to ignore it and worked all day cleaning and doing some extra chores around the house.  By Sunday evening I was sneezing, nose was running, eyes were watering.  I was miserable.  And it only got worse.  I went to work on Monday morning so I could get the Church's newsletter finished and mailed and I haven't been back since.  I went to the doctor yesterday and have a pharmacy on the kitchen counter - antibiotics, decongestants, eye drops, cough syrup, Tylenol.  I'm hoping to go back to work tomorrow so I can do the bulletins, but will have to see how I am in the morning.  Just to put things in perspective, - those of you who know me well will understand this - I have felt so awful I haven't even gotten dressed to go get my Starbucks coffee.

Cinder and Cecil are doing well,  although I have gotten the stink eye from Cecil when his breakfast has been late.

I hope all is well with everyone.  Stay safe!  It's time for more pills.

Hey, again.

Things are getting back to normal around here. Hermione was a sweet kitty and spent lots of time in our laps and snuggling. We miss her.

Cinder and Cecil are getting back to normal – if there is such a thing! I’m sure they miss her too. But life goes on. Eventually we will adopt another kitty that needs a home, but not just yet.

Golfer has been busy with yard work. Everything is growing and green. There is still pollen everywhere! When that finally lessens, it will be time to wash the windows again. It’s never ending!

We’re getting ready to have a new patio put in. The current one has a large “safety-hazard” crack across it. So it will be dug out and while the space is open some drainage issues will be taken care of that were recommended by the foundation people recently. Then a new paving stone patio will be put in and a little new landscaping done. Wish me luck keeping the hydrangeas alive! We’ve never had any of them before. When that is all done we may go shopping for a small fire pit and then douse ourselves with bug spray and go out to roast marshmallows.

Speaking of bugs… after a recent bout of yard work I discovered I had two tick bites. ICK!!! After a couple days I decided it was time to see our doctor to have them checked. He told us what to watch for and said they appeared to be healing okay. My main concern was a bacterial infection going into my “bionic” knee. Didn’t want to take any chances on that.   There is a new bottle of bug spray on the garage shelf and I plan to use it whenever I am out!

Spring break is over for the grandkids and they are all back to school.  I'm sure they're all counting the days until the next vacation.  And I think that will be when we all go to Myrtle Beach the end of May.

That's about it for now.  Take care and stay safe.

Good-bye, Hermione

You were a sweet kitty and we love you.
