Well, Hey, All!

Just some updates.  I haven't been writing very often lately.  As I previously said, I had a few days where I didn't want to talk to anyone and we had a lot on our minds around here.  But things are better.  I mentioned I was having some surgery.  I did and it went well and I am recovering nicely.  It was day surgery, a really long day, but it went well.  All pathology reports are in and everything was benign, so that is good.  The initial biopsy was benign, too, but the doctors said the mass in question still needed to come out. It was something with a name about a page wide that if left alone would cause problems.  So there is was, it had to come out.  I had an option of just waiting six months and then deciding, but I know us and neither of us would do well worrying about something for six months.  Besides, we have places to go and things to do.   I am on the mend now and getting back into my "routine".

We are busy planning our Summer road trip and Golfer is in the midst of making a spreadsheet and setting up reservations.  And before that trip he will have the annual "guys' golf trip" that they all look forward to.  Then later in May we will head to the Military Retirees Golf Tournament in Myrtle Beach.  Wives go along for that and I love this trip!  Seeing friends, watching the ocean, fresh air and sea breezes.......

We've been getting the yard in shape.  It is looking better and everything is green.  We had some windy storms recently and a clean-up with my grabber and a bag were needed.  I took my time and got most of it done.  We need new mulch and it is harder than I thought it would be to find someone to deliver and spread mulch.  The delivery is easy, the place where we like to buy it will deliver.  But we need someone to come and haul it all around.  I am currently waiting to talk to a couple guys.  It is a busy time of year for this but eventually it will get done.

The next project of the day, when I finish this post, is to clean out the furry boys' toy basket.  I asked them to start on that and this is the response I got.  Cecil was evidently too busy, but Finnigan and Angus did at least take a look.  Although Angus was happier to just sit in the basket.

Things I Don't Ever Want to Forget

I was born and raised in Navarre, a small town in rural Ohio.  It always felt safe.  I could walk from one end of town to the other by myself.

Mom worked hard to support the two of us and even though we didn't have a lot of material things, I never, ever felt deprived.  I always felt loved.

I have always felt loved during my life with Les, and he is my best friend.  We have had a great life and seen many wonderful things and been to places we never dreamed we would see.

We have two beautiful, talented, responsible daughters.

We have five wonderful grandchildren.  I hope the world treats them well.

When I was little, Mom and I could sometimes see the Northern Lights from the backyard.

When there was a Summer storm, Mom liked to take the screen out of the bedroom window and we would sit in the open window and watch it with our feet sticking out on the roof.  I still like a good storm.

Also when I was little, we had neighbors Bob and Shirley.  Bob played the guitar and on Summer evenings we would all sit on the porch and he would play and we would all sing.

Les and I used to square dance and we were members of the Twirl-a-Teens.

Grama was a great cook and baker.  Granpa used to let me "help" in the garden and we would wash the veggies off with the hose and eat as we worked.

I had a pair of pet guard geese.  Mom made little ankle bands for them and we walked them with a leash on Main Street.  They would NOT let anyone bother me.

I used to climb up to the top of the TV antenna.  I loved it up there.

Saturday evenings will always be "Star Trek and burrito night", even though the show isn't on and we don't always have burritos on Saturday any more.

People still think, after all these years, that we will move back to Ohio. At least most of them have stopped asking us.  It's a wonderful state and we love it, but can't see ourselves moving back.  Even though it has surprised people over the years, we have made it a point to adapt and loved everywhere we have lived.

If you want to know something, ask.

I love cats, way more than I like a lot of people in the world.

Stay calm, stay safe and love each other.

Huh!???

So.  During a particularly not good time for me recently when I was already stressed by several things, I was hurrying to close windows when we were having a thunderstorm.  In the process of getting to one of the bedroom windows I had to move our floor lamp out of the way.  When I moved it, the bottom of the lamp fell apart and hunks of messy adhesive fell out all over the place.  We briefly considered that we would repair it.  That thought did not last long.  Said lamp is now in garage awaiting the bulk garbage pick-up next week.

We went and bought a new lamp yesterday.  Nice, sturdy, heavy wood one.  Golfer got it put together and it looks nice.  But WTH!!  This is the lampshade that came with it!

As you can see I did not even try to assemble it.  It will reside in the closet for awhile until I decide what to do with it.  The shade that had been on the old lamp was a good one and the right color so it is now on the new lamp.  But I am amazed that a company thinks this new shade is a good idea.

Have a Blessed and Peaceful Easter!

I haven't had much to say lately except sending out birthday and anniversary wishes.  I have been dealing with some issues and my mood hasn't always been the best or my usual positive.  I've had several appointments and tests and then more.  I am doing/feeling better now and my mood has balanced and I am content.  But I am having some surgery this coming week.

So, I have been busy doing things I wanted to get done.  I am not planning to be "out of commission" for too long.  I've done some extra cleaning and some yard work and taken care of errands.  Life is good.

And now I am posting some Easter pictures that have made me smile!

This is my favorite Easter picture!
