Hope

Hope is a good thing.

I hope everyone I love stays safe and healthy.  I hope that the pandemic will be over and we can hold our grandchildren and hug our family.  I hope we can go out for dinner with our friends.  I hope our country can get back on the right track.  I hope people stop being so mean.

On a lighter note, I hope the weather turns nicer and warm, sunny, Spring weather arrives.

These give me hope.

Take care of yourselves and stay safe.  Life is good.  God Bless America!

Checking In

I hope you are all well and coping with life as it is.  Some days it is hard to be motivated, but I remind myself to keep moving.

Since I last posted, our weather has had warm sunny days and then some colder rainy ones, and gone back and forth.  Today is a colder, gray, cloudy one that is supposed to have rain starting again this evening.  And it's supposed to rain all weekend.

I've been keeping up with things around the house.  On those nice sunny days, I've been outside a bit soaking up vitamin D. Yesterday I took our TLX to the car wash; she needed it!

Our friends and family are in various stages of getting the Covid vaccine.  Some are done with second doses, some can't even get on waiting lists yet.  It's a slow process.  Les and I go next week for our second doses.

Gas prices are rising.  We both filled up the cars this week and mid-grade was $3/gal.

Last year, I did not put out our Easter decorations at all.  What with being in pain, then having surgery, and Covid starting to spread, I just didn't get motivated to do it.  But since we are now in Lent I got our box out.  Les' Dad had made these sweet bunnies for us.

I recently read a quote that should make us all think.

"The problems we face today exist because the people who work for a living are now outnumbered by those who vote for a living."

A Beautiful Day!

After what seems like "forever " having rain and cold temperatures, today is beautiful.  It is currently 63 degrees and sunny.  I sat out on the patio in the sun and soaked up some vitamin D.  Then I used the blower and cleaned things off. I very carefully went out in the yard and filled the bird feeder.  The ground is so soggy and we have standing puddles in quite a few places.

Les went out to the driving range, but did not stay too long.  He said everything is very wet and soggy there, too.

But we take what we get and are enjoying the sun shining today.  Tomorrow is supposed to be back into the 30's and raining again.

Stay safe and take care of yourselves.  Life is great!  God Bless America!

Valentine's Day Came Early!

Les and our "furry boys" got me some beautiful roses and a lovely heart ornament.  Thank you!  I love you, honey!

Les and I are doing okay.  Neither of us developed any bad after effects from the first vaccine doses.

We are tired of cold, wet, nasty weather though.  It's supposed to be cold and either raining or snowing for the next several days.  Everything is muddy and there are puddles in the yard.

We were having a bit of cabin fever here and took a drive the other day.  Ended up driving up around Yorktown, then to Williamsburg, stopped at Emily's donuts, and then had lunch at Pierce's.  That was the first time we had actually eaten in Pierce's since the pandemic started.  The parking lot only had a few cars when we got there, and we thought we'd just go on in and see.  They have done a good job of spacing out the tables that are open, and there are precautions being taken.  So we just ate there instead of getting take-out and bringing it home.  It was great food and very nice.

Other than that, I've been taking care of household chores and keeping up with things.  I had a recheck appointment with our dermatologist and that went well.  This coming week I see our GP doctor for a "look over" and some annual blood work.

Our girls say everyone is doing okay.  School is still an issue for all the kids.  Some days in class, some days online.  Boxer and Bloomer have their school's Winter break next week so that will give them time to rest and recuperate.

Some of our family in Ohio is sick and one has tested positive for Covid.  They are all in our thoughts and prayers.

My Hoover hand vac conked out.  Can't find a replacement of the same kind so have ordered a Bissell one that should be delivered tomorrow.  I hope it works.  I used the Hoover one every day.  (probably why it finally wore out) 😊

Take care of yourselves and stay safe.  Remember that life is good.  Be kind.  And God Bless America!

Our First Doses Done!

Les and I went to our doctor's office yesterday afternoon and received our first doses of Covid vaccine.  I was impressed with the system they have in place for giving the vaccine.  Dr. Putland is in the Riverside Health System.  When it was time for our "group" to be eligible, we received messages to call and schedule.  There was just a little over a week between that call and the appointment.

We arrived and checked in and within just a couple minutes we were called back and given the injections.  Then they had us move to where we waited for fifteen minutes.  We were asked several times if we were doing okay.  When the time was up, we were given our cards and next appointments.

There were a couple questions before the  injection was given.  All were the usual that we have been asked since the pandemic started.  But one question made me laugh.  The Tech was there with the syringe in her hand and she said, "I have to ask if you give me permission to give you the vaccine".  Of course, I said "Yes".  But then I asked her "Would I be here otherwise?"  And she laughed and said "Right!"

So far neither of us has had after effects or problems from the vaccine.  Les is actually playing in a golf tournament today!  After quite a few very cold days, and lots of rain, and some snow, today is 50 and sunny.  More rain is forecast to start this evening though.

The Covid variants are in Virginia and we are being told to continue all safety precautions.  Wear masks, sanitize, distance, no groups, etc.   It is also suggested to only go out and about once a week to do errands.  I had a list so I geared up and went this morning.  Everything got checked off the list and I am safely back home and everything is put away.

A few members of our family and a few friends have also gotten the vaccine.  Some have had side effects, others have not.  Of those who did, the symptoms did not last too long.  So, people, get on your lists and get the vaccine as soon as you can.  I know there are a lot of kinks in the process that are being worked out, so try to be patient and good luck!

Just Checking In

In a couple hours Les and I will be going to get our first dose of Covid vaccine.  We are going to our regular family practice doctor's office and are hoping everything goes smoothly.  I'll keep you posted.

It is still cold here and today is gray and cloudy.  And not nearly as rainy as was predicted so far.

You all know I like sky pictures.  Here is one that Pam took a couple mornings ago.  It's beautiful!

Not much else going on.  I made a coffee cake in an effort to create what my Mom and Grama used to make.  It was a success and tasted great!

No Spring Here Yet!

It is COLD, gray, cloudy, and been lightly snowing again today.  So far it is not sticking.  Our family in Ohio is not so lucky and they have maybe six inches of snow so far.  Please be careful everyone!

Les and I are staying in and trying to stay safe.  Obviously there is no golf being played.  I have a feeling that the tournament that was postponed from last weekend will not happen this weekend either.  But we will see, miracles can happen.

I've been trying to keep the bird feeder filled for the outside critters.  And for the last several evenings, a little bird has found a warm place to spend the night on our porch security light.  Last two nights he had a friend with him.

I took this picture right before the light came on for the evening.  And yes, I know there will be some scrubbing needed when it warms up. 😊

Our furry boys are spending even more time in our bedroom.  Finnigan prefers the spot right by my pillow where the heating vent in the ceiling warms him.  Angus prefers to burrow under the quilt on Les' side.

And on an optimistic note.... our friend Elaine, in South Carolina, says her daffodils are starting to come up!

Take care of yourselves, stay safe, and God Bless America!
