Happy Halloween!

I hope you are all well and staying safe.

Les and I are doing okay.  Keeping up with things and being careful.

Our temperatures have been cooler here and we've had a little more rain.  Today is sunny and breezy.

We got together with Jacquie, Chris, Jordan, and the little girls last evening and took Cutie Girl and Little Miss E to a Trunk-or-Treat.  They looked adorable and were very good.  There were lots of thank you's and they even complemented a few other children on their costumes.

Their expressions were much more smiling after their buckets were full. 😊 It was a nice safe, outdoor event.

Take care of yourselves and stay safe.  God Bless America!  Remember, life is great!

Another Sky Picture

This picture was taken a couple days ago before I went for my Starbucks.

Our weather has been up and down.  It's that time of year here - A/C on one day and heat the next.  Right now the windows are open and the system is turned off.  It's sunny and mid 70's.

Les mowed and did yard work this past week.  I hope to get out in the next day or two and do a little cleanup in the mulched areas.  I've been staying off the new grass, but I think it's okay now and I'll still be careful.

Take care of yourselves.  Life is good, and God Bless America!

Leaf Color!

I think I have mentioned that so far this Fall our area isn't seeing any bright leaf color yet.  We've just got a lot of leaf scorched, dried, brown ones falling down.  But I had to go by the Post Office to drop off some mail and saw this beauty in their parking lot!

It looked even better than this picture shows!

First Brrrrr!

Well!  Two days ago our temps were in the 80's, then yesterday in the upper 60's.  When we got up this morning and it was 50!  The first thing I did was turn off the A/C.

Even our furry boys are thinking it is too cool.  They are snuggled in their favorite places and under a quilt.

Les wore long pants and a wind/shirt jacket for golf today.  I put on a sweatshirt.  Eventually I gave up and turned the heat on.  Weather in Virginia. Go figure.  We'll be back near 80 by the end of the week according to the forecast.

Just Checking In

Les and I are alright.  Seems like it's been a short week.

We've had rain quite a few days.  The new grass is coming up.  There's some yard work out there starting to call to me, but I'm waiting until it's drier and better to walk on the new grass. 😊

I've kept up with all the usual stuff around the house, and did some errands.  We're still being careful.

I've said I love taking sky pictures, so here is one from this morning.

The clouds were actually much pinker than the photo shows, but the sky is still pretty.

Happy Columbus Day?

Technically, Columbus Day is tomorrow.  But you know, federal holidays on Mondays, and now added Indigenous Peoples Day, so it's a combined holiday.  But anyway....thank you Mr. Columbus for accidently discovering our country!  It is sort of a mess right now, but I hope it will eventually get better.

Les and I are doing okay.  Neither of us had any reactions to our flu shots.

Our weather has cooled off a bit and we've been having some rain off and on.  It's making the new grass seeds sprout.

During the time when I was working and would have Columbus Day off as a holiday, I always did Christmas shopping on that day.  You know, beat the rush and crowds, and get things ready if they needed to be mailed or shipped.  All that is even more important now with all the supply chain issues, shortages, and delays.  I am happy to report that the Christmas shopping is almost all done for this year.  And I've done most of it from right here where I am sitting writing this. 😊

Les and I are reading some good books, and watching some new shows.  The latest is on Disney, "Among the Stars".  It is a docuseries and we think it's pretty good.

Life remains good.  Take care of yourselves and stay safe.  God Bless America!

Hey!

I hope everyone is doing well.

Les had a major allergy attack while playing golf on Monday. He felt so bad he quit playing after twelve holes.  But yesterday's round went much better.  He was feeling alright and had a good round.  There is something out there on or around the course that sets it off and makes him miserable; we do not know what.

He has also had an encounter with a wasp that got in the house.  Before he could swat it a second time after he knocked it down off the wall, it stung him.  He has had a bad reaction to stings in the past, but is doing okay so far other than a little redness and a little swelling on his neck. The wasp is a goner after I stomped on it. 😊

Our yard is still covered with the little lumps of mud from the aeration but the sprinklers have been running as needed and it has rained a couple times.  Hopefully, the new seed will be up soon and the ground will level out.

We got our "senior" flu vaccines yesterday.  Neither of us have had any reaction.  We'll get our Covid booster - or third dose as our doctor calls it - next month.

Our weather has been pretty good, a little cooler but still high humidity.  No leaf colors are happening yet.  But we are having a lot of dried, brown leaves falling down.  Al Roker talked about this one morning in his report and called this "Leaf Scorch" and it is caused by weather conditions.  The acorns are still falling down from our neighbor's tree.  I even hear then pinging on the chimney cap sometimes.  And it is on the other side of the deck from that tree!

Take care of yourselves and stay safe.  Life is good.  God Bless America!

Happy October, Everyone!

Just posting a couple pictures of the final "Fall" decorating here.  The temperature is in the low 70's today and it is sunny and beautiful outside.  The yard guys were here this morning.  They aerated, seeded, and fertilized.  I went out and took up all the flags marking our sprinkler heads.  Les will turn on the sprinkler system when he gets home from playing golf.

If the number of acorns that is falling onto our deck from our neighbor's oak tree is any indication, be prepared.  It's going to be quite the Winter!

Take care of yourselves and stay safe.  Life is good.  God Bless America!
