Well! Where to Start?!?

First, let me say that Les and I are okay and have not found any damage so far from Isaias.  Most of the storm was in our area during the night and early this morning.  We had alerts for tornado warnings on the phone at 1:30 a.m. and about 4:30 a.m.  There were tornadoes that touched down, but not right near us.

The local weatherman gave totals on his report and we got at least 3 1/2" of rain and the highest wind gusts were around 60 mph.  The yard is a mess.  Many, many branches and limbs down, chunks of leaves, "stuff" blown around.

When the rain stopped I went out and wiped off all the deck and patio furniture and got things set back up.  Then swept off the patio and deck.  I figured it was a start on the cleanup.  I took this picture before I started sweeping.

Then this afternoon, Les and I went out and did some clean up out front.  So at least that part is done.  The back yard will take a lot longer and will get worked on over the next couple days.  Les walked all around the house and looked at the roof and it seems fine.

There are many power outages, downed lines, and flooding near the coastal areas.  We did not lose power, but the generator is ready!

Pam had some of the storm and heavy rain.  Unfortunately, that was on the first day back to school for Boxer and Bloomer.  But Pam says the day went okay.

Jacquie says they are doing okay.  Last I heard from her they were helping a neighbor who had a downed tree.

Before all this storm stuff happened, I was already on edge.  Yesterday morning I went out to do two errands.  As I was leaving a parking lot headed to the exit, a construction company pickup truck hit our car.  As I was was slowly driving behind him to the exit, he decided to just back up, either without looking or he didn't see me.  He got out, said he was sorry.  We exchanged all our information.  I have called State Farm and our claim has been started.  It's not a lot of damage but it is on the TLX and quite noticeable.  I was not injured but definitely was shaky.

As accidents go, this one was minor.  But, having said that, just being the driver getting hit was enough to dredge up old bad memories of the much worse accident in 1999.  I can usually keep those memories way in the back of my mind, but I really don't think they will ever go away.  So, I've been dealing with emotions, stress, and honestly, just being really pissed off that the guy hit me.

We have an appointment to get an estimate on repairs for tomorrow afternoon.

Tomorrow will be a busy day.  We have our pest control guy coming for his quarterly visit in the morning.  And in the evening our painter guy is coming to give the smaller bathroom ceiling a coat of paint.  😊

Life remains good.  Stay safe!  And God Bless America!
