A friend shared this. I got a smile from it, and just had to copy and post it. Thanks, Gloria!  I don't like  super hot weather, but I also don't like having to get out the Winter coats again.  And it's getting close to that!  My flowers outside are confused.

Huh!

For the first time ever, the porch pansies did not thrive.  I posted a picture of the first two I potted this year.  One died and I replaced it with a different kind.  Then the second "first" one died.  So we are down to just the pot of the large blooms.  In a few weeks it will be time to get geraniums for the porch.  For now, I am enjoying looking out the front windows and looking and these.

This picture was taken a few days ago.  They look better now and have filled out with more blooms.  

It's cold again here and I had to turn the heat back on!  And it's been raining.

A Tiny Traveler

I came home from doing an errand and found this tiny little guy on the driveway.  The sun was out, it was hot, so I picked him up and moved him into the shade under a large Azalea.  By the time I came inside and got some water to cool him off he had already moved to the side of the house and was headed to the back yard.  So I picked him up again and took him out to the back side of our large mulched area.  He hurried  to the leaves of the Day Lilies and snuggled in.  I put some water around him and a little on him and he seemed content.  I figured our yard is a safe place.

An Update

 

Les had surgery on his left knee on Wednesday.  A meniscus tear was repaired and some scar tissue removed.  He's is doing okay, but says this feels different from how he felt after the right knee surgery in December.  He is having some pain, but is managing.  He is using ice and the device to prevent blood clots, keeping his leg elevated, and is doing the exercises he was told to do while sitting.  He is using a walker for now.  His post-op appointment is on Monday and PT will be ordered at some point.

I am taking care of things as well as I can.  This morning I got to go pick up our new lawn mower.  This one is a small Toro, battery powered, self-propelled to use all around the edges and small places in the yard.  It will be a while before we are out doing yard work, but we're ready.

I have decided that you have to pick your battles.  I don't mean actual angry battles, but the kind of battles in your mind when you think you really need to be getting something done but you just don't feel like it.  I am at an age where I have decided it can just wait until I feel like doing it!

Yay for Me! I've Been Doing This

A lot of the news we see and hear is awful.  So I am posting a great report that I found in the our latest  AARP Bulletin.  It is wonderful news!

This Happens More Often Than You Would Think

Well........

Please don't ask me where the time has gone since I last posted.  Obviously, the time has gone by way too fast.  I have been trying to keep up, but some days I just run out of energy and time.

So, here are some updates on us.  The calendar was full of appointments since I last wrote.  Les finished up the sessions with the speech therapist and the occupational therapist. Those were both twice a week.  Both gave him things to work on and practice sheets and instructions.  

Les also had a dermatology appointment.  It went okay but a couple "spots" were worked on.  Another day he saw his Neurologist.   Not really anything new there,  He's to see her again in a year, or sooner if something else happens.  

Then we both had dental checkups; no problems for either of us there.  Yay!  Although I was told my teeth are getting old.  Duh!

We met with a landscaper that we like and discussed some work.  We want to have our deck removed and have the patio extended into that space.  That will make it all ground level and much safer and easier to go out there and use the area.  We completed the application for our HOA ARB and got approval.  We signed a contract and paid the deposit this morning.  They'll call and let us know when the work will start.

Yesterday the guys from the same company came and did the edging of our mulched areas, cleaned up all the remaining leaves - especially from the rocks across the back edge of our property - and put down our new cedar mulch.  Looks much better!

Our sprinkler system people were here to move a sprinkler head that needed to be done before the deck/patio work.  They also did the Spring turn-on and checked the system.

Larry came to visit and check on Les.  It was nice to have him here for a couple nights.  He was on his way to a golf outing in South Carolina.

The surgery on Les' left knee is scheduled for the 19th.  So we had another appointment with our GP Doc for the pre-surgery clearance.  That was followed up in a couple days by a lengthy call from the surgery nurse.  The good news there is that because of all the testing that Les has had done over the last few months, there is no more testing needed before the surgery.

We had a couple days of temperatures in the upper-80's.  It got hot and muggy in here and I turned the A/C on.  That is turned off again now.  There is a front passing through and today the temps are dropping and in the low-50's, windy, and rainy.

I've done a little work out in the yard, just a bit at a time.  One of the pansy pots on the porch is not looking too good.  Both have been fertilized and watered and spoken to nicely. 😊 So I don't know what the problem is.  I might have to replace it.
