Just Some Updates

It seems like it's been sort of busy around here, and honestly I just haven't done a whole lot of posting except for special occasions and such.  So here you go. . . . . . .

L & V came for a couple days to visit us and it was great to see them and visit.  We really appreciate them coming.  And we got to see their new car!

Les has had several appointments and lots of lab work.  And then more lab work.  We are waiting for answers.

The TLX went in for a very short service appointment.

The rep from our pest control company came to talk to us about having a total termite prevention treatment done.  We built our house in 1995.  The original treatments doesn't last forever and it is time to reinforce that.  The work is scheduled in a couple weeks.  We have only had termites here once.  That was enough!  I was cleaning baseboards, scrubbing a spot and my thumb went right into the wood!  Upon inspection back then, it was termites!  Work was done and things repaired.  Don't need to do that again.

I donated blood again and didn't pass out this time!  Les had to cancel his donation, but he drove me and waited.  And he checked on me when he heard the nurse calling for water!  But I was okay, they just wanted me to have water.

Angus and Finnigan had their annual doctor visits.  They were good boys.  Dr. Weidinger says they are both in good shape for being ten years old.  They got their Rabies shots, DRC-C three year shots, blood work, and exams.  They were really happy to get back home.  No lab results yet.

In the next few weeks we have some more appointments, medical and dental.  The annual generator service is scheduled. And I'm looking forward to a haircut.

Our weather is hot and humid.  Every so often we have a thunderstorm and rain.  The yard is looking pretty good.  The porch geraniums are doing well and have new buds and blooms.  The new pot of zinnias is also doing well and has new blooms.

Our girls are doing "okay".  We got to finally get together with Jacquie and all last weekend to celebrate a couple birthdays, our anniversary, and Father's day.  It was great to see them. Jordan's Summer class is finished.  It won't be too long before the next semester starts.

Pam says things are going okay there, too.  Z will be starting a part-time job soon.  His first college classes start around mid-August.  B's high school classes start the first week in August.  Everyone busy!

The state of the world is not better.  So I have nothing to say on that topic.

Take care of yourselves and stay safe.  Life is still good!  And God Bless America!

P.S.  This made me smile.

We Now Have a Grand-Lizard!

 This is Lemon!

Lemon started out as a pet sitting job for Jordan.  However the neighbor who had to go to Afghanistan ended up not coming back to this area.  So Lemon is now permanently adopted by Jordan.  So welcome, Lemon!

Lemon is a male Leopard Gecko about seven to eight inches long.  He's at least three years old now. (Jordan is not sure about age since the previous parent did not say)  Jordan is taking very good care of him and he seems to be happy!

Take care of yourselves and stay safe.  Life is good!  God Bless America!

The Onion Experiment Is Finished

So..... After seeing several posts about taking the root ends of green onions and sticking them in dirt and then growing new onions, I tried it.  It was not what I expected.  In fact, it was disappointing.  After a couple months, we got two very tiny green onions that were so flimsy, I didn't even try to cut them.

That got cleaned up and since the pot was empty and I still had good potting soil, I went to Lowes garden center.  We now have a pot of Zinnias in one of our back yard mulched areas.  These are much nicer to look at!

Stay safe, life is good.  And God Bless America!

Evening Sky Picture

The other evening as we were watching TV, I noticed the outside colors changing and I had to go look.  The sky was beautiful!

Irritations

While on our recent trip to Pam's and to the Retiree's Tournament, we encountered a few irritations.  A couple of them are pretty much common irritations for everyone who tries to go anywhere.  You know, things like major road construction work that blocks multiple lanes.  And let's not forget rude drivers who don't know how to be kind to other drivers.

And then there are irritations that happen while staying in a multi-floor hotel.  We were on the sixth floor, which was about midway up.  There were three elevators, that did not all seem to work at all times.  Again rude people!  And first up -children who push every button in the elevator and make it stop at every floor!  And their parents who do nothing about it and stand there watching and think it's so very funny and cute. Trust me, it is neither funny nor cute! My personal feeling is shame on all of them.  They should be made to walk the steps or be evicted.

And speaking of steps...... one morning the alarm went off accompanied by loud announcements that there was a fire.  Everyone was to leave the building, and not to use the elevators.  That is common sense in fire situations.  So I grabbed my key, glasses, and phone and headed out. I could smell fire and see smoke.  So, in spite of two knee replacements and a hip replacement, I started down the steps.  All six floors.  Everyone stood out by the street as the fire trucks came.  Eventually we were allowed to return and of course, the elevators were not all working and were very slow.  We never did hear where exactly the fire was.  But the next day the alarm and announcement went off again!  We all gathered out on the front balcony and prepared to start down.  This time no smoke and no smell of fire. Before we got to the steps though, the announcement was made that it was a false alarm.  Anyone who thinks such a thing is funny is badly mistaken.  It is not!  And they should be evicted from the hotel and never allowed back.  And if it was a kid doing it, the whole family goes and the parents held responsible, and they should have to pay the cost of the firemen coming.  There are enough troubles in the world without stupid stuff like this.

In spite of things like this, it was a good, even though exhausting, trip.  So here are a couple more sky pictures to brighten the mood.

Stay safe, people!  God Bless America!  Life is Good!

Ha! No, We Didn't Fall Off the Face of the Earth!

We have been busy and I would have made some posts, but I can not do it on my tablet.  So I had to wait.

Les and I went to Z's High School graduation!  We are very proud of him.  He graduated with honors will be attending Kennesaw State College.  Here he is with Pam, his very proud Mom.

We were at Pam's for a few days and after the graduation ceremony, we left the next day for Murrell's Inlet.  It was time for the Military Retiree's Golf Tournament.   We had a nice time and got to visit with friends.  But as nice as it was, it was exhausting.  Uncomfortable hotel beds, and some other issues.  But it was a nice trip.

We're back home and have been catching up.  Jordan took care of our furry boys and the house and all was well with that.  The boys were happy to have us back though.

We've done yard work and cleanup, errands, desk "stuff", gone to appointments, and just generally been taking care of things.

You know I love sky pictures, and I tried to take one every morning.  Couldn't post them while there, so you'll be seeing some I think are especially pretty in future posts.  But here are a couple for now. 😊

And this one was taken at the start of an evening storm.  Awesome!

Take care of yourselves and stay safe.  Life is good, even with challenges.  God Bless America!
