Hey!

We've just been catching up around here.  You know there is always something that needs to be done.  It took a few days to recover from that long trip back home, but all is well.

We have had several appointments this past week and errands to do, and chores.  We went to Lowe's and bought a new back door.  It will be installed this coming week.  The current door must have a broken seal.  At times it gets all foggy between the glass and there is no way to clean it.

We had a cleaning company come and clean our fence.  Looks great right now.  I sent an email to the OA and told them.

Angus has been spending a lot of time staring out back at the patio.  I finally saw what he was looking at!  He has a new friend who lives out there!  I have seen the little guy a couple times.

I had my echocardiogram and got a report from our doctor.  He says I have no valve issues and I have good heart function.  So, yay!

It Was Like a Never-Ending Journey

Les and I are home now, still recovering from the trip, but we are doing okay.

Going to Ohio we went a different route than usual because Les had seen reports of construction and back-ups on the PA Turnpike.  It was a nice ride and traffic was light.  While we were in Ohio, several people said the turnpike was okay and it wasn't that bad.  Based on those reports and the fact that it was a Saturday and the assumption was that traffic would not be so heavy around D.C. and on I-95, we went that way.  To be blunt, it was awful.

We spent over 10 1/2 hours getting home.  We didn't find the Cracker Barrel for breakfast and ate at a Service Plaza Burger King.  It was okay, but not what we were wanting.  The Starbucks there had no bold coffee.  Service was extremely slow at both counters. Parts of the turnpike were bone-jarringly rough and hurt.  There were delays and construction.  At one point, when going through a really busy work area, the GPS display on the new car went all wonky and the screen stayed messed up.  I suspect there was some electrical interference of some kind, but we will never know.  When we stopped for a potty break and restarted the car, it seemed okay, so it must have re-booted itself.

We finally got off the turnpike to find that the Flying J service station only had diesel fuel.  The shop looked much reduced in size and the restaurant was closed and there was no A/C in the restrooms.  Then we were back on the road.  Traffic was NOT lighter around D.C. area.  I-95 was a disaster.  I lost count of how many accidents we passed.  And I mean passed after sitting in the extreme heat while waiting, sitting still.  Emergency vehicles would be coming from behind us at times and traffic was bumper to bumper in all lanes and there was nowhere to go.  Eventually we got onto I-64 and it was heavy with back-ups, too.

We were glad to get back home.  The new TLX rides very nicely, and is comfortable. But my body decided that enough was enough and everything hurt.  I am gradually feeling better and am being careful to not over-do on the catching up.

Les is doing okay and he is playing golf today.  He had a good time playing with the Fairless Alumni group while we were in Ohio.  And he went to an Indians' game with Larry, our nephew and his sons.

Our furry boys are all speaking to us; they were happy to see the suitcases go back in the closet.   Jordan said Angus spent the time while we were gone hiding under the bed.

So, even when stressed or sad, life is still great.  Stay safe and God Bless America!

Hey

We've been busy visiting with Larry and Violet and doing our usual "when we come to Ohio" things.  That means driving by old home sites, buying Trail Bologna and cheese, among other things.

The drive here was pretty good.  It was a little longer since we avoided the construction and delays on the PA turnpike and we came a different way.  But there was a lot less traffic, and that meant less stress.  I tried to get a picture of the beautiful West Virginia wild flowers in the medians but the  pictures all came out blurry.  They were lovely!

I did get this cute picture when we were going through a toll booth.

Great big truck hauling a little tractor!

The hotel where we are staying is good.  Their breakfast is better than a lot of hotel breakfasts we've had.  People are nice.  Pam usually posts "hotel art" when she travels.  The art is normal in here, but here is our window.  Makes it feel like we're in a jungle!  Can't see through the leaves.

Larry plays golf with a Fairless H.S. Alumni group and asked Les to play so that is happening today.  Tomorrow is Linda's memorial service; her son is in charge of everything.

Even in sad times, life is great.  Stay safe and God Bless America!

The Week Had Ups and Downs

I hope you are all well and content.  Remember, life is great!

Our week has been busy and a bit stressed.  But Les' eye exam went well and we only have three more days of drops to do.  The only glasses he needs are his "readers" so that was good news.  Les has had several other appointments and tests this week, but he seems to be doing okay for the most part.

Sadly, on Wednesday we got word that his sister had died.  Linda was only 68 and her granddaughter had found her.  She will be missed.

We had planned on a short vacation anniversary trip this coming week and had reservations made, but those are all changed now.  Instead of spending sightseeing time in Lancaster, PA, we are going straight to Ohio.  It will be great to see family but we're sorry it's for a sad time.  Linda's memorial service is next Friday.

In other news, we've had very hot and humid weather and a few thunderstorms.  The mosquito population has at least tripled, I think!

I've been trying to keep up with things around here.  Got some errands done, did a few things on that mental "to-do" list that have been waiting so long.  I've been to PT and been doing my exercises here at home, too.  So far, so good.

Les got addresses loaded into Jadzia's navigation system.  I got CD's loaded into her sound system.

You all know I like squirrel pictures, so I will close with one.  Stay safe and God Bless America!

Just Checking In

I hope everyone is well and happy!

I've been keeping busy doing chores that have been on my mental "to-do list" for months.  My NSAID is working and doing its job and I am feeling better and stronger.  The PT is helping, too.  So, things are looking up!

Yesterday's main chore was re-sealing the granite counter tops.  Glad to get that done; should have been done a few months ago, but it just couldn't happen then.

We finally got rain yesterday, some thunderstorms and a nice steady rain for a while.  Right away everything started to look greener, better, and happier out in the yard.

Les is on his way to his eye re-check.  His vision has improved and he's anxious to see what the doctor says about everything.   We have about another week and a half of eye drops to do.

I have PT this week on Tuesday and Thursday.  Right now I am here waiting for the generator service tech to come for the annual service.

As always, life is great!  Stay safe and God Bless America!

And here is another cute squirrel picture, compliments of Wild Birds, Unlimited.  😊

Happy Independence Day!

Yes, I am aware that I have used this picture in the past, but I love it and it deserves to be posted again!  I hope you all have a beautiful and safe day!  God Bless America!

And in other news.........

I am feeling better.  After months - actually since right after the first of the year - of having pain in my hip and leg, and then having bursectomy surgery and honestly having continued pain, all at a time when my doctors said to not take any anti-inflammatory medicine and only take Tylenol, I am now finally starting to feel more human!  (my apologies to Mrs. Toot, my high school English and writing teacher for that run on sentence)

I met with the gastroenterologist and we had a nice talk before he gave me the sleepy drugs before the colonoscopy.  The gist of it is the test was fine, he found no problems, and no bleeding areas.  He told me the iFOB tests are often false positive.  Also said I should not have been told to completely stop the NSAIDs and be in pain.  They are fine to take as long as I take a preventative along with them like Prilosec or Omeprazole.  (which I had been doing)  So I was very relieved when he said I needed no more scopings or tests, take the NSAIDs, and there was no reason I should have to live with constant pain without them.

I am sure some of you know what the prep is like for the colonoscopy.  I won't go into details there. But after months of no NSAIDs, and two days with no coffee, I have now had pills, coffee, and solid food.  Life is even greater!

Les had a recheck with our GP doc for the UTI and he has a new round of antibiotics.  And Les has a recheck on his eyes on Monday.  After weeks of not being able to do much he is slowly getting back to normal, too.

I am getting used to driving Jadzia.  I really like her and learn something new every time I am in her.

It's been really hot and humid here, and we could use some rain.  It's been in the forecasts but hasn't really hit us.

So, as I said, life is great!  Stay safe and have a Blessed Day!  And God Bless America!
