Short Sun

We had almost two days of nice sunny weather.  And we were expecting today to be nice, too, but the forecasters changed all that to cooler and more rain.  Disappointing. So, no golf, I'm not going to the car wash as I had planned, and the yard is not drying out.

Otherwise, we are okay.  I have PT this morning and will be leaving shortly.

I got some errands done yesterday, and a few other odds and ends around here.

The pansy pots are doing very well and getting ready to bust out in blooms in spite of the weather!

There are many buds hiding in those leaves.  😊

I went to the library to donate several books and took this picture of some beautiful flowers in front of the building.  It will be a mass of yellow blooms soon!

The pink bud trees are blooming in the area and the Bradford pear trees are just starting to show blooms.

Life is great, even if it is wet!  Stay safe and God Bless America!

"Blinded By the Light"

Hooray!  The rain finally stopped yesterday afternoon!  Right now it is a sunny 43 here.

It was still drizzling yesterday afternoon when Jacquie, Jordan and I went to CNU to see the student production of "Oklahoma".  When we came out of the theater the sun was out so bright we had to squint!

The show was very good.  I am a big fan of  Broadway musicals and list to Broadway XM in the car most of the time.  "Oklahoma" is a classic so I know the music.  There were definitely some great voices in the show.  And it was great to spend time with Jacquie and Jordan.

I have PT this morning and have some errands to do today. I am doing okay.  The pain in my knee has gotten better.  I am still feeling twinges and aches in my hip area, but am still hopeful that the cortisone injection is going to take care of the bursitis.

The yard is still wet and puddly, so there is no sense even thinking about any work out there.  But daffodils in the area are blooming!  We saw quite a few blooms yesterday in the medians on the way to the show!  Beautiful!

I couldn't take pictures since I was driving so here is some clipart.  😊

Les isn't playing golf today because he says the course is too wet.  I imagine he will be going to the driving range sometime though.

As always, life is great!  Stay safe and God Bless America!

Saturday Already

Huh.  The week didn't seem that busy, but it "flew by".  There were a couple PT sessions, home exercises, a haircut, a doctor's appointment, all the usual stuff to do, and LOTS of rain.

So, let's start with weather.....  I have no idea how much rain we have had this week.  There have been a couple very brief appearances by the sun, but like I said, "brief".  Let's just say we have enough rain that the stepping stones in our mulched areas are covered up by the rain puddles and leave it at that.  And the golf course is so wet that there is no play, but some of the guys have met at the course to play cards.  The rain might let up tomorrow.  We'll see.

While I'm on the topic of rain, Jacquie shared this picture on Facebook.  It sums up the conditions here.  😊  She and Chris want to get things started on their garden for this year.  So far it's not going well.

PT has been going okay.  Some things make the pain worse and some might be helping.  However, I saw Dr. Aldridge yesterday and since the steroids and PT have not made me better, he has decided the pain is being caused by bursitis.  He gave me a cortisone injection and said to see him again in a month.  But if the pain is not a lot better in ten days to come back sooner.  I don't want to be too optimistic, and it might just be wishful thinking, but I do think I feel a little better today.

The haircut feels much better.  Elisha does a good job!

Les and I have been doing things around the house, reading, watching TV.  He's been to the "Y".  During one of those very brief "no rain" times I got a couple errands done.

The furry boys would like some sun spots, too.  This picture was taken right before I came to the computer.  Cecil and Finnigan are napping on the bed.  Angus is napping in the living room.

But, life is great.  Stay safe and God Bless America!

Happy Presidents' Day!

Remember and celebrate our great country and our Presidents!

And according to all the ads and comments on TV, a lot of folks will be doing that by shopping.  Sales everywhere!  I am not one of those people.  😊

It rained pretty hard during the night, we heard it hitting the windows.  Right now it is 50 degrees and sunny. Many puddles in the yard though. The predicted rain is "scattered".  They are actually saying rain/snow mix for tomorrow night.  Then Wednesday is calling for rain all day.  But we'll just have to wait and see what happens.  We all know the forecasters are not always right.

Les has gone to the "Y".  I've done my PT exercises here at home.  I go to PT again tomorrow.

Nothing too exciting going on.  I've been taking care of the usual household chores and doing some desk stuff.

If you shop on Amazon you have probably gotten requests to review a product you purchased or been asked to answer another shopper's questions.  I just got another email from Amazon with some requests for help.  And I have decided that there are too many people that are either too lazy to take care of themselves or not smart enough.  Ever since I bought a steering wheel cover I have had at least twenty questions about what size cover to get for someone else's steering wheel.  I have gotten to the point where if I decide to reply I just say "go measure the steering wheel and look at the size chart!"  And yes, I do include that exclamation point.  I measured and ordered accordingly and the cover fits perfectly on Kirk.

And this just reinforces my belief that there are way too many people in the world who don't want to do anything for themselves and just want someone else to take care of them.  I have not mentioned it recently, but in case anyone has forgotten, I don't like and cannot stand whiners. Buck up, people, take care of yourselves, get a job, be productive!!   The hard-working American people (tax payers) do not need - and can not afford - to provide homes, education, food, medical care, transportation, phones, etc. to all the people who are not willing to work and support themselves.

And that is enough from the soapbox for today!  Amen!!

This and That

Since my last post where I said it was cold again, we had a couple warm days around 70 and it is now cold again and in the 40's today.  We are in the midst of at least five days of rain.  That is frustrating because our yard had just been getting dried out.

There was a break in the rain this morning and I made a trip to the Commissary.  I may have mentioned before how much I dislike grocery shopping in the rain.  I got home and Les got things inside before it started to rain again.  Everything is put away now.

The rain yesterday was all day.  We stayed in and I got some things done on my mental "to-do" list.  The microwave had a good scrubbing.  I straightened our bookshelves and got that organized.  Then I cleaned some things out of my dresser and closet.  A couple bags will go out for the DAV neighborhood pickup on Wednesday.

I'm reading a good Clive Cussler book and we've been watching some of our recorded shows.

This coming week I have some things scheduled...... two days of PT, a haircut appointment, and a doctor's appointment.

The potted pansies are looking happy and I think they have grown a little.  Not blooming yet, but the buds are getting bigger.

I bought a new sweatshirt that caught my eye.  😊😊😊  (I'm not particularly good at taking selfies and resorted to using the mirror.)

So, life is great!  Stay safe and God Bless America!

Where Does the Time Go? And Why So Fast?

Who knows??!!

Les and I are doing okay here.  The weather has been back and forth, as usual.  We even broke a record for high temps last week when it hit 79 one day.  Now it is cooler and sunny.  We've had some more rain and things are drying out again.  The pink bud trees in the medians are blooming out on Victory Blvd.  And we have seen daffodil buds showing up in the mulched areas around the neighborhood.

I went and bought some hardy pansies yesterday and got those potted and out on the porch.  I also bought two new pots for them.  Then I gathered up all my assorted pots and saucers of various sizes and Jacquie will FreeCycle those for me.

Les is playing golf when the weather permits.  Looks like tomorrow might be a good day.

My PT is progressing and my pain is slowly getting better.  The PT Techs keep telling me "we're doing great".

Other than all this, we've just been doing odds and ends and keeping up with things around the house.

We did go out for an early Valentine's dinner at Salsa's on Tuesday evening.  Great food!

So, life continues to be great!  Stay safe and God Bless America!

I Hope He's Right!

Punxsatawney Phil says we are going to have an early Spring!  I certainly hope so!  Our local Chesapeake Chuck has not made his prediction yet.

And thinking about an early Spring, Les and I have been researching some new yard tools.  Our trimmer needed repair and Les took it in.  He got a call saying it would be expensive and it is old.  So we need a new one and Les wanted a new edger, too.  He has found a combination unit that he likes and bought it yesterday.  I still need a new shrub trimmer/pruner and am leaning towards getting the one that is the same brand and will use the same battery as my blower.  I still have plenty of time to think about that.  It's going to have to be warmer before I go out to do anything.  Also, I need to feel better.

The PT is going okay although one exercise this week about did me in.  They had my head lower than my body and trying to do the exercise.  Blood rushed to my head and I got nauseous.  It must have shown on my face because she asked me if I was okay.  She got me up right away and things got better. Yesterday was not a good day;  my leg really hurt a lot.  Today is better.

It is sunny and warm enough for the guys to be playing golf today.  I hope Les is having a good round!  He was all layered up and left early for his tee time.

As predicted by the repairman, our dryer did get increasingly louder and rattled more.  We bought a new one this week and it was delivered yesterday.  I am doing laundry today and so far so good.  It is extremely quiet and efficient!

One more thing about the yard work.... in anticipation of getting my porch pansies in a month or so,  when we were at Lowe's getting the dryer we bought a bag of potting soil.  It was frozen solid!  😕

Life remains great!  Stay safe and God Bless America!
