We're in renovation mode again here! The floor tile work in the foyer, hallway, kitchen and second bathroom is to start this Wednesday. Plans to be confirmed tomorrow. We're anxious for this to get underway and be done. And, as one thing always leads to another . . . . . . we decided since the toilet had to come up in order for floor tile to go down, why not replace it now since that was on the project list anyway. And you know, if we're going to replace the toilet, why not the countertop and the faucets and get it over with?
So.... the bathroom has been emptied. The wall border has been removed - great job, Golfer! The large mirror has been removed to be donated to ReStore and Habitat. That revealed a hole in the wall that was hidden behind the mirror. This hole was obviously made by someone who did not know what they were doing. The hole was medicine cabinet size. And in the hole was a message: "WRONG PLACE" and an arrow pointing to the other wall where the cabinet actually is! And when the house was built, instead of repairing this hole, the contractor just let it be covered up. And, NO, I do not know if this contractor is still in business, but I will be on the look-out for them!
We had some drywall left after the major bathroom remodel last Summer. Golfer cut a piece and put it in the hole. We mudded it. Today after church we went to Lowe's and bought a new sander. It works just fine. Always nice to have a new power tool! But let me tell you, that is a mess in there! I just finished putting a thin coat of mud on the area for the second coat and hopefully tomorrow we can sand it again, clean things up and start painting. We'd like to have it done before the floor work starts. And the guys come to do the template for the counter top. And the plumbing hook-up gets done.
It's a good thing it has been too cold for golf this weekend. We've gotten a lot done around here. It snowed a little this morning; nice big fluffy flakes. Very pretty, nothing stuck, and it's done now.
I hope you are all well and happy. Take care and check back for updates!
